| when I sailed my
50 ft center cockpit Hinckley from Maine to Miami in the fall of 2000 and
from Miami to Maine in the spring of 2001, we sailed past this great hotel
both times. I was quite taken by the place, admittedly from a
distance and since we planned to be in Florida for the Holidays, I booked
five days here at the Breakers. I expected Ritz in Paris, France
quality, both of people and amenities, however, I was disappointed.
Now, that's not to say that the Breakers is not a nice place, but at twice
the price of the Ritz in Paris, I did anticipate something
outstanding. It's nice so far, but not as nice as the Ritz in Paris,
and the people here, while possibly quite wealthy, don't' carry themselves
like the clientele at the Ritz. This is more of a family resort,
which is not a criticism, but Jim Lark of the world famous Lark Restaurant
would call these people "Euro trash". they wear jeans and
don't dress for the occasion. |

level, which is the sixth and seventh floors are private, requiring a room
key in the elevator to get to these levels. It's club level, with a
private terrace, concierge and free food and drinks all day. The
terrace proved to be especially nice, since the winds were blowing really
hard and up here, on our private terrace, we were protected from the
winds. |
