| Victoria and Albert Museum Described as an "extremely capacious
handbag" by its former director Sir Roy Strong, the labyrinthine Victoria and Albert
Museum contains one of the world's richest and most eclectic collections of fine and
applied arts from all periods and cultures. The Museum was founded as a result of the
success of the Great Exhibition and since 1909 has been housed in a building
designed by Sir Aston Webb. 7 miles of galleries occupy four main floor levels.
The Morris room pictured above, was designed
to re-create the historic style with modern materials of the industrial age. |
