| A new light fixture
manufacturer of great old style fixtures. Of course they picked one day to close .
the day we are in town. |
 |
| This didn't look like a store
that sold new light fixtures from a catalog, but rather a store that made new light
fixtures. The fixtures that I saw were just the kind of fixtures that I have always
told my clients were not available new. I hope I am proven incorrect with this store. |

| a broom store!!! |
 |
| we are all packed waiting for
the porter to pick up our bags |
 |
| closer look at our
organization-we're getting good at packing, or, we're leaving lots of stuff along the way,
because it's getting easier and quicker to pack. The dirty laundry bags, compliments
of the Ritz in London, is a real great idea for dirty laundry. |
 |
| Looking down at our bag of
acquisitions. (Which cost £50 to mail home.) Just to make it a bit easier to
get about!!! We returned to our hotel after touring Edinburgh scouring town for the
used bookstores then searching the shelves of each of the stores for a book published by
Blackie and Sons with a pretty Art Nouvea cover on it. The Mackintosh chairs that I
own were designed for Mrs, Blackie. Mr. Blackie was a book publisher and some of his
books had beautiful Art Nouveau covers. It is rumored that Mackintosh may have designed
one of the covers for one of the books that Blackie and Sons published. I thought
that it would be grea to place a Blackie and Sons published book on one of the chairs.
The books are becoming collectors items, but Janet's great eyes found one in a used
bookstore and we immediately purchased it. The bookseller acted as if he had
realized his pricing mistake after I paid for it (£4), but he kept his side of the deal.
We ate Lunch and packed this bag of stuff in a box at the restaurant then we sent the
concierge on a mission to mail it and his tip for the action was £10!!! After I wrote the
above, he returned with about £15 from the £50 that I gave him saying that the initial
calculations were incorrect at £50. So I gave him another £4 tip, then £5 to the
doorman for parking our car yesterday and pulling in up taday, and finally we were off for
Thurso. |
